Education: In 1971, graduated from the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute named after V.I. Lenin with a specialization in “Geologist-Geophysicist.”

Work Experience:
1971 to 1991 – Chief Geologist, Head of the Geological Department, Deputy Head of the Geological Department, Field Geologist of the Oil Exploration Expedition of the Geological Management «Kazneftegazrazvedka», Association «Guryefneftegazgeology». 1991 to 1993 – Head of the Oil and Gas Department, Deputy Minister of Geology, Ministry of Geology of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
1993 to 1994 – Deputy Minister of Energy and Fuel Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
1994 to 1997 – President of JSC «Kazakhstancaspishelf». 1997 to 1998 – President of JSC «NK KazakhOil».
1998 to 2001 – Chief Consultant for the CIS countries at the central office of Chevron. 2001 to 2005 – President of Nelson Resources Limited (Canadian company).
From February 2006 to the present – President of Meridian Petroleum.

Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences (1999), Corresponding Member of the International Economic Academy Eurasia (1998), Academician of the International Academy of Mineral Resources (2000), Member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (2000), Honorary Professor of Atyrau University of Oil and Gas, Kazakh National Research Technical University named after K.I. Satpaev, and Kazakh-British Technical University. He has more than 110 scientific articles and works, including 10 monographs.
